Real life post! Silent Treatment, headlice treatment and The Right Treatment!

Guest post by: me! Topic: Treatment!
Today, I have three different treatments to talk about - the silent treatment, headlice treatment and of course The Right Treatment.
Did you ever wonder about the real life of an erotica writer? Do you think its full of romance, flowers and hot sex? For some maybe it is, but certainly not so much for me in the last while. When you have a houseful of kids, that impromptu hot quickie sex goes by the wayside let me tell you. I'm not going to do  big long post on how kids muck up your sex life because I did that here.  The problem here is my kids are all at an age where they have a fair idea of the birds and the bees, and the eldest probably too much of an idea as I learned to my cost last night!

First off, we have the silent treatment. Why and by whom? My teenage son is meeting me with the silent treatment as he came across evidence of his parents sex life. Last night, he came at me and flung something at me, telling me he needed a word with me. Like I was the child, he the parent and he had found out I was at things too grown up for me!
It turns out it was an empty stockings packet, but the wrapper was a little racy, and the photo showed a thong and suspenders, unfortunately. Anyway, I pointed out what it was, and that stockings were hardly contraband for adults. Then I get accosted with accusations of other things he has found (spanking paddle, lube and *blush* love beads. My face was redder and redder by the second. I am part raging, part dying of embarrassment. He's my bloody kid. I don't need to answer to him about my sex life! I try being reasonable, pointing out that he should be glad he has parents that still enjoy being together, but somehow he didn't seem to accept that argument and he was shouting in outrage!
I pointed out it really was none of his business, but that didn't seem to wash either. But it was definitely pick on Mammy day, I checked with his dad and of course he hadn't the nerve to say any of this to him. So today, the matter remains unresolved, and I have the silent treatment. My response? I confess, I told him perhaps he should discuss such matters with his father in the future! (I think that's called the diversion treatment)
I just want to say a big thank you to Casey Megan and Natasha for helping me see the funny side of this!

If that's not enough crap for one day, I also discover my daughters have headlice. So I spent the day up to my elbows in a  gooey home remedy for headlice. Yuck! You have to mix tea tree oil, lavender oil, olive oil and a natural shampoo in a bowl and it ends up looking and feeling like egg yolk. This then has to be spread  all over the scalp for minimum half an hour. It feels and smells horrendous. The house now stinks. Eeugh. No wonder the headlice don't like it. And then of course there is the laundry - all the bedlinen and towels have to be washed, again, using tea tree oil and lavender to kill the little blighters.  My house smells like a natural food shop now. And not in a good way.

Finally: Lets go to the best treatment - The Right Treatment which is now available as a stand alone book on Amazon

A big thank you to the very talented Korey Mae Johnson. Isn't it just gorgeous? Hot as hell.

Things have changed quite a bit in the years since Aoife Devine last saw Matt McDaid, her childhood crush. Working as a doctor on the emergency ward has hardened him, and parties, alcohol, and one-night-stands have taken their toll on her. But when a bad batch of ecstasy sends Aoife to the hospital, she finds herself with no choice but to accept Matt’s help, even if that means obeying his rules.

Matt proves fully prepared to back up his orders with a sound spanking, and Aoife soon learns that cooperating with his treatments is not optional, no matter how humiliating they may be for her. But will Aoife always be no more than a foolish girl to him, or can Matt come to see her as more than just a troublesome patient in need of the right treatment?

Publisher’s Note: The Right Treatment is an erotic novel that includes spankings, sexual scenes, medical play, anal play, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book. This book is also available as part of a five-book collection entitled What the Doctor Ordered.

  1. Oh Tara - so sorry about your son. I can just imagine how you felt and trying to explain even when you know you shouldn't have to. I think passing it off to your husband was a smart move.

Sorry about the head lice thing. When we lived in Florida and I worked in a SS agency, I remember it being a pain because it seemed as if it would just be gone and someone else would pop up with it and the cycle would go round and round..

The box set is on my TBR list - now I just need time.

    1. Thanks Leigh. I know he will get over it. By next week it wil;l all be forgotten.
Not so sure about the headlice though, those things can be persistent blighters, especially if not all parents are vigilant - they just keep coming back! And even if you don't have them yourself, you feel your skin crawling and start imagining them everywhere! Eeugh.

  2. Tara I'm so sorry about your son and the headlice. For your son, I can state as a young person, that well, every child knows that their parents have sex or have had it, otherwise they wouldn't be here. But, it's one thing to know something and it is a whole different thing to see it or find proof of it. Something kind of similar just happened to me, and I can say that I didn't handle it as well as I would have liked to. It's hard finding out stuff like this, but give your son a couple days and I'm sure that everything will go back to normal.
For the headlice, good luck. If you are dilligent in constantly checking your girls hair and washing it, you'll get rid of them fast. I had them before and I think with my Mom checking my hair and washing it everyday, she had them gone in like a week. Make sure to wash everything too in hot water!
I have your book on my TBR list! Good luck with everything! :-)

    1. Aw, thanks Meredith.
I can completely get what you are saying about knowing it in some sort of abstract sense, and actually confronting it is very different. I have no doubt some much more persistent teenage concern will have replaced his anxiety before the weekend is out. I don't flatter myself that parents are the center of a teens world :)

  3. Oh Tara, it is funny, really, and if he is giving you the silent treatment now then at least he isn't reading you the riot act! He'll get over it. I agree, send him to your husband- why should you be the only one getting yelled at?

Ew, lice, that sucks! You're having a rough week lady- you deserve a little relaxation! And of course I loved the book :)

  4. Jeez Louise, woman! How crazy! The son will get over it. Trust me. Mine see it all as "Why can't we have parents that hate each other?" And "What's wrong with our parents?"

You'll survive. We all do. That's how we get gray hair!

    1. Damn woman, if that's how we get grey hair, then I am sending mine to boarding school. I'm very proud of not having to dye my hair yet!
      Just kidding.

LOL, yeah it's crazy to think they would prefer parents who hate each other isn't it? Nuts. All I can say is one day they too will be middle aged and boy will I remind them :)

  5. Oh, I'm cracking up all over again but if you don't laugh at that (I say this imagining what I would do if it were my kids), you'd just die wanting the ground to open up and swallow you, right?

Headlice - tea tree oil! Keep it handy. It's the only thing that got rid of it for my daughter. Head lice loves her for some reason. We just did a drop being the ears and then I'd runny hands through her hair just with that drop, otherwise, as you now know, the smell will about kill you! Do it for a few days and just keep the bottle handy. And you have the comb, right?

I feel like the authority on headline... ;)

    1. Yep, that's about it, laugh or crack. And I think that goes for the headlice too!
Yeah, I sure do have the comb, and I'll use a drop or two every day for a couple of weeks, It's funny how some kids are a magnet for them. I think this is the third time my two have come home with them. Maybe I should ban showers - they say they hate dirty hair!

  6. I had to giggle at the silent treatment. Anyone with kids has or will have an experience like this when their kids discover mom and dad do have sex.
My son was 16 when I asked him to help me flip my mattress on my bed, I'd forgotten about the pink vibrator I kept under my mattress. I wanted to die of embarrassment as he laughed telling me he was going to tell his friends at school his mom was a kink freak.
A few years later, our youngest daughter also 16 'heard' us one night at like 2 am. She knocks on our bedroom door practically in tears telling us were keeping her awake and she wants to go to her friends house. I opened the door, held out a pair of ear plugs and told her to go back to bed.
Sorry to hear about the headlice, nasty lil buggers. I hope your free of them before Christmas.
The Right Treatment sounds very intriguing, you really got me in the blurb when you mention Aoife taking a bad dose of drugs. I can only imagine what course of treatment Matt has in store for her.

  7. That would be so awkward and embarrassing. I can imagine your son's shock. But probably in the long run, it will be good for his development to be raised in a home where sex is a positive thing.

Does he know about your erotic romance writing?

    1. Thanks for commmenting, Cara.
Yes it certainly was both of those things. I guess it is a teenage thing as I am normally very open about any issues with him, and yes he does know about the writing. He used to think it was pretty cool, probably when he chose to think his parents were too old to be sexually active!

  8. OMG, I am mortified (sorry, and giggling a little too) about your son. But at first, when you said he had found an empty "wrapper" package, my first thoughts were that that was your way of saying "condom".

hehe, I was so relieved for both of you, that it wasn't THAT. ;)

About the headlice, I am sooooo sorry!
    ugh.
We had it in our household right before Thanksgiving. The girls and me (that's what I get for snuggling with them.) Males after puberty secrete some sort of pheromone to keep away the buggers. (You should have seen me rubbing up all over him for a few days. Hehe. I was informed later that it wouldn't help, so I backed off)

We did the tea tree oil and an additional treatment because we just could not get rid of the stupid buggers! :(

Oh, and hot water does NOT work, for future reference. Ziplocking them away from everything, suffocated them. (You should have seen our freezer, jampacked with freezer bags of stuffed animals. )
    poor purple bunny :(

knock on wood, hopefully, the school has gotten everyone taken care of so we don't get it again. :)

    Good luck!!!

    1. LOL, don't worry Katherine, at this stage I can giggle at it too! I guess it's just one of those things that happen.
Headlice seem to have gone running for cover, thank heavens. but I need to re dose them this weekend to be sure. Thank heavens my girls are too old to need the cuddly toys in bed.
I didn't know men repelled headlice - I'm tempted to quip something along the lines of who could blame the lice but I would probably get infected myself for my smart mouth - God's punishment!
