The Westerfield Affair by Renee Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The heroine is a delight, a smart lady struggling with the nuances of polished society, using her vivacity as a guise to cover her insecurities, totally unaware of her loveliness. The hero, a taciturn man strikes a business arrangement to gain her hand, not a great start in said lady's eyes as she doesn't appreciate being treated as a chattel.
Her Lord has no compunction in teaching her who is in charge of the situation, leading to a scandal, further recriminations and a dodgy start to their marriage. The young Kitty soon learned that her Lord was not to be manipulated, but she seemed to need to be reminded more than once, either she was a slow learner or she rather liked it!
I loved watching them as they struggled with their misunderstandings and insecurities to finally come to a point where they both knew exactly where they stood with each other.
